I worked at AmeriCredit for 7 years when an economic downsizing left me declared redundant and without a job. It was the perfect opportunity for me to follow a path that I had dreamed of for 10 years, to groom dogs!  I enrolled in and graduated with Honours (95.5% average) from a reputable grooming school in Ontario.

My teacher has been a groomer for over 20 years.  His academy has a stellar reputation and is in high demand. The course is booked months in advance and required a 2-hour interview before being granted acceptance.  Because the teacher only allows 3 students per class, I was able to benefit from having expert hands-on training from the very first day. 

While the dogs we groomed were drying or resting, we also had an intense 2-hour class session each day.  We covered canine health, product information and usage, good business practices, customer relations, canine anatomy, salon setup, equipment maintenance, and various grooming techniques, amongst other things.  I feel that this course made me a competent pet groomer, and would recommend it to anyone.  I am also fully trained in canine CPR, basic first aid (not that your dog would ever need it in my ultra-safe salon environment), and proper canine massage techniques. 

When I set up my salon, I decided to opt only for quality in my products and equipment. All of my shampoos, conditioners, clippers, scissors, blades, brushes, dryers, kennels, and beds are purchased from a professional groomer’s outlet and are considered to be top-of-the-line. I firmly believe in quality products and service, and after the grooming session is finished, it really shows. Although my grooming business is run out of my home, the service you and your dog will receive is just as professional as any commercial salon.
